PDF Password Protector adds password encryption to a PDF file. You can set a user password (required to open the document) and/or an owner password (controls printing, copying, and editing permissions). The encryption is applied using pdf-lib's built-in save options, producing a standard encrypted PDF that any reader can open with the correct password.
How to Use PDF Password Protector
- Upload a PDF by dropping it onto the upload zone.
- Enter a user password — this is required to open the document.
- Optionally enter an owner password — this controls permissions (printing, copying). If left blank, a default owner password is set.
- Click Protect PDF. The tool applies encryption and writes a new PDF.
- Download the result as
