What is Background Color?
Background Color changes the background of every page in a PDF to a solid color of your choice. The tool draws a filled rectangle over each page using pdf-lib, covering the existing background with the new color at 50% opacity. The result is a tinted document where the original content remains visible beneath the new background.
How to Use Background Color
- Upload a PDF by dropping it onto the upload zone.
- Enter a background color as a hex value (e.g. #FFFFFF for white, #F0F0F0 for light gray).
- Click Process. The tool draws a filled rectangle on every page.
- Download the result as
background-color.pdf.
Why Use Background Color?
PDFs with transparent or white backgrounds can look stark when printed or shared. Adding a subtle background color improves visual appeal for presentations, portfolios, and marketing materials. Designers use it to match brand colors. Educators use it to create visually distinct handouts.
Privacy & Security
Your files never leave your browser. The modification happens entirely on your device. Nothing is uploaded to Racira's servers, no copies are stored in the cloud, and no file data is transmitted at any point.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this cover the existing content?
The background is drawn at 50% opacity, so existing text and images remain visible beneath it. The effect is a tinted overlay rather than a solid opaque layer.
Can I set a different color per page?
Not in a single operation. The tool applies the same color to every page. For per-page colors, process the document multiple times after splitting.
