    What is Add Watermark?

Add Watermark places semi-transparent text or images over every page of a PDF. You control the watermark text, font size, opacity, rotation angle, color, and whether it appears once centered or tiled across the page. The result is a document where each page carries a visible overlay — typically used to mark drafts, identify confidential material, or brand shared files.

The tool uses pdf-lib to draw the watermark directly onto each page's content stream. For text watermarks, it embeds a Helvetica Bold font and renders the text at your chosen size and angle. For image watermarks, it embeds a PNG or JPG and places it centered on each page with configurable opacity and scale.

    How to Use Add Watermark

    1. Upload a PDF by dropping it onto the upload zone or clicking to browse.
    2. Enter your watermark text (e.g. "CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", or your company name).
    3. Adjust opacity (0–1, default 0.15) — lower values make the watermark more subtle.
    4. Set the rotation angle in degrees (default -45 for a diagonal watermark).
    5. Optionally choose a text color as a hex value (default is gray).
    6. Click Add Watermark. The tool draws the watermark on every page.
    7. Download the result as watermarked.pdf.

    Why Use Add Watermark?

Watermarks are the standard way to label documents as drafts, mark confidential material, or brand files before sharing. Legal teams stamp "CONFIDENTIAL" on privileged documents. Designers overlay branding on portfolio samples. Administrative teams mark internal reports as "DRAFT" during review cycles.

Because the watermark is drawn onto the content stream (not added as an annotation), it cannot be easily removed by the recipient. This makes it suitable for marking documents where you want the label to persist through printing and casual editing.

    Privacy & Security

Your files never leave your browser. Every step — reading the PDF, drawing the watermark, and writing the output — happens on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to Racira's servers, no copies are stored in the cloud, and no file data is transmitted at any point.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I remove the watermark later?

Because the watermark is drawn directly into the page content stream, it cannot be removed with a simple undo. You would need to re-process the original (un-watermarked) PDF. This is by design — watermarks that are easy to remove defeat their purpose.

Does the watermark affect print quality?

The watermark is rendered at the same resolution as the underlying page content. At low opacity values (0.1–0.2), it appears as a faint overlay that does not interfere with readability. At higher opacity, it becomes more prominent and may obscure content beneath it.

Can I watermark only specific pages?

The current version applies the watermark to every page. To watermark only specific pages, split the document first, watermark the pages you need, then merge them back together.
