What is Add Text?
Add Text lets you place arbitrary text anywhere on a PDF page. You specify the text content, font size, position (X and Y coordinates), and optional color. The text is drawn directly onto the page's content stream using the Helvetica font, making it a permanent part of the page — visible in any PDF reader and when printed.
The tool uses pdf-lib to embed text at your specified coordinates. The X coordinate measures from the left edge of the page, and Y measures from the bottom (standard PDF coordinate system). Text is drawn on page 1 by default; for other pages, use the page option if available through the editor interface.
How to Use Add Text
- Upload a PDF by dropping it onto the upload zone.
- Enter the text content you want to add.
- Set the font size (default: 14pt).
- Set the X and Y position in points from the page's bottom-left corner. For reference, a standard Letter page is 612 points wide and 792 points tall.
- Optionally choose a text color as a hex value (default: black).
- Click Add Text. The tool draws the text onto the page.
- Download the result as
text-added.pdf.
Why Use Add Text?
Adding text is useful for filling in form-like fields that are not interactive, annotating pages with notes or labels, or adding missing information to exported documents. Legal professionals add case numbers or filing dates. Students annotate study materials. Designers add captions or version numbers to mockups.
Unlike annotation-based tools, text added here becomes part of the page content. It cannot be accidentally deleted by the reader and appears in print output exactly as positioned.
Privacy & Security
Your files never leave your browser. Every step — reading the PDF, drawing text, and writing the output — happens on your own device. Nothing is uploaded to Racira's servers, no copies are stored in the cloud, and no file data is transmitted at any point.
Frequently Asked Questions
What font is used?
Helvetica (a standard PDF font). It is embedded automatically and renders consistently across all PDF readers and platforms. Other fonts are not currently supported.
Can I add text to multiple pages?
The current version targets page 1. To add text to other pages, process the document once per page, or use the editor interface which supports page selection.
Is the text editable afterward?
The text is drawn into the content stream, so it is not editable as a text object in most PDF editors. It becomes part of the page's visual content, like a printed word on paper.
