The brand palette generator hashes a brand name into a hue and lays out five role slots — primary, accent, secondary, surface and foreground — so the same name always returns the same palette.

What is Brand Palette Generator?

Most colour tools ask for a colour; this one asks for a word. Type a brand name and the brand palette generator hashes it into a hue — each character folded into a running value, multiplied by 31 and reduced modulo 360 — then builds five slots around that hue. The same name always produces the same palette, on any machine and in any session, which is the property that makes a palette from a name useful as a placeholder rather than as a joke.

  • Primary — the brand hue at lightness 0.55 and chroma 0.18.
  • Accent — the same construction thirty degrees around the wheel, lighter and slightly less saturated.
  • Secondary — the opposite hue, one hundred and eighty degrees away.
  • Surface — a near-white tint of the brand hue, lightness 0.95 with chroma 0.02.
  • Foreground — a near-black tint of the same hue, lightness 0.2 with chroma 0.04.

What the tool produces is closer to a working set than a random one. Deterministic brand colors mean a mock built today can be reproduced next month without saving anything, and the role slots are the five that a small product actually needs: one identity colour, one highlight, one opposing colour, plus a light and a dark neutral derived from the identity hue. Because the neutral pair is tinted rather than grey, the whole set reads as designed even when the name it came from is meaningless.

  • The mapping is a simple hash, so similar names produce unrelated hues and one renamed character changes the entire palette.
  • There is no contrast guarantee: the foreground is dark and the surface is light, but nothing measures whether the primary can be read on either.
  • Only five slots, no tonal steps, and no export beyond copying individual hex values.
  • The name affects hue alone; chroma and lightness are fixed, so two brands have palettes of identical weight.

Having five role slots rather than five colours is what makes the output usable in a layout. Primary, accent, secondary, surface and foreground answer the questions a screen actually asks — what carries the brand, what draws the eye, what opposes it, what the page sits on and what the text is — so a mock can be assembled without inventing names for values that have none. Typing the name back into the field reproduces the set exactly, which is what keeps the arrangement usable weeks later and makes the tool a commit-time placeholder rather than a one-off curiosity.

Use it as a starting point for a mock, a concept or a side project where no brand exists yet, and as a reproducibility trick when a design has to survive a rebuild: keep the name and the palette comes back. Where a brand's real colours exist, check them against the generated set for a sense of how far the hashed hue sits from the identity — the comparison tool will show the difference in average lightness and chroma, and the shade tools fill in the tonal steps this page deliberately omits.

How to use Brand Palette Generator

  1. Type the brand name into the field; the hue is derived from it immediately.
  2. Read the five labelled slots: primary, accent, secondary, surface and foreground.
  3. Copy the hex values, and keep the name with them so the palette can be regenerated.
  4. Add tonal steps from the shade tools if the product needs more than five values.

When to use Brand Palette Generator vs related tools

Use this when a project needs plausible brand colours before a brand exists. The random palette generator rolls without a tie to any input, the palette comparison tool measures how far a generated set sits from the real one, and the shades generator extends any slot into a usable tonal ladder.
