About the Daylight Saving Calculator
DST status is fully deterministic from fixed calendar rules. The US observes it from the second Sunday in March (2:00 AM) to the first Sunday in November; the EU and UK from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October; southern Australia from the first Sunday in October to the first Sunday in April.
Why the Rules Matter
Getting the transition dates wrong breaks timezone conversion, meeting scheduling, and device clocks. Because the rules are fixed by legislation, they can be computed for any year — no live lookups needed. Note the EU has proposed abolishing seasonal changes; such legislation would update these rules.
